TREATMENTS
The medical team at Ramirez Fernandes consists of experienced professionals in the various fields of Dental Medicine. |
PROSTHODONTICS
This field of Dental Medicine allows the patient to recuperate lost teeth, consequently improving the patient’s appearance and ability to chew.
The teeth can be replaced using prostheses, divided in:
- removable or fixed prostheses;
- prostheses sustained by teeth and/or implants.
The prostheses which include all of the teeth are called total prostheses; in case they replace one or more teeth (but not all of them) they’re called partial prostheses.
Removable prosthesis
A prosthesis which the patient can remove from their mouth when necessary, either to clean it or to rest.
The removable prosthesis can be acrylic (pinkish, sustained by the mucosa) or skeletal, mainly in metal and sustained by the teeth and the mucosa.
Fixed prosthesis
This type of prosthesis, after being placed, can’t leave the mouth. The fixed prosthesis can be:
- Single (replacing just one tooth) – with the placement of a dental crown on a root or an implant;
- Bridges (replacing more than one tooth)
In case no roots are available to sustain the fixed or removable prosthesis, then, the solution can be to use implants.
